Bare Minerals Bareskin Foundation

As you may be aware if you have read my previous post regarding the launch of this product or my monthly favourites video I am a big fan of the Bare Minerals original mineral foundation. I love how light Bare Minerals products are on the skin and bought the liquid foundation with high hopes that it would be light and airy similar to their other products. Boy oh boy Bare Minerals did not disappoint!

This foundation is unbelievably light for a liquid formula and it just feels so silky smooth on the skin. This foundation is supposed to work like a serum to improve your skin whilst also providing some coverage.

Bare Minerals recommend applying this foundation with their new brush made specifically for use with Bareskin however the brush costs as much as the foundation itself so I opted not to purchase this. I tried to apply the foundation with a beauty blender and surprisingly unlike every other foundation I have used my beauty blender with, this did not apply well with it. I found that the product was absorbed by the beauty blender rather than providing the usual 'a little goes a long way' awesomeness that the beauty blender normally provides.  I also tried application with a normal flat pointed foundation brush and again I found that a lot of the foundation was required to cover a small area.

Lastly I attempted to apply this foundation using my hands and I found that the foundation spread a lot further and blended much better this way. I use 4 drops with my hands to get coverage all over my face; one on each cheek, my forehead and my chin.

So if you can't afford the brush to accompany this foundation or simply do not want to pay the asking price, I think this foundation applies beautifully just using your fingers and if you want that light silky coverage then this is definitely the foundation for you!
